Third Strand Baby Titan
“We are super grateful for the opportunity to receive donor milk, and also to help Third Strand share your story with others who may need it or become inspired to donate.
My story starts April 2016, I was 26 years old and had found a small lump months prior. I was in bed reading, and felt it hurt at this point. Fear had taken over and I immediately called my OB/GYN the next morning, and they got me in right away. It is nice to be from a relatively small town, they did not push aside my age and no family history as something to ignore. The moral of the story here is to trust your gut. A breast cancer diagnosis was the shock of a lifetime, but it was also a blessing in disguise. At a young age, I faced my mortality and cherished my life more than ever. I was able to help give back along with a group of my closest friends by putting on a 3on3 basketball tourney for 3 years, and giving funds to those locally who were going through treatment. I understand the joy it brings by involving the community, and giving back.
I went through chemo, double mastectomy, and radiation that year. I was on fertility preservation for the next four years, and knew that becoming a mom someday was my number one priority. Fast forward three years, by this point I have found the love of my life. Still not sure where my journey to becoming a mother would take me. After all those years, I came off the meds that put me into chemical menopause, and it did not take long before I found out I was pregnant. I am only a few weeks away from the birth of our first, and I know that God has had his hand over me throughout this entire pregnancy. I have felt so at peace, and am surprised how smooth it has gone considering all of the detours my cancer diagnosis had taken.
The blessings hit differently when we have gone through something that has changed us. We have been so humbled by the excitement and gifts/well wishes we have received from friends, family, and now Third Strand. Thank you for reaching out and helping to bless our little family Kyle, and just know that I plan to be a lifelong supporter to your foundation however I can.”
